Turf Talk From The Supentendent

Members,

By the time you receive this course update for February, the golf course will have been closed due to extreme cold temperatures affecting the greens. In the three and a half years since my arrival at Coharie Country Club we have not experienced these low overnight temperatures for more than a day or so, but this storm event will persist ten to twelve days. We tarped the front nine greens and practice putting green on the 26 th of January and they should remain on the greens until our nighttime and daytime temperatures are within a safe range to prevent winter kill or winter desiccation.

In February by Valentines Day, we will be applying pre-emergent to the course for spring/summer weeds. We will also be raising/adjusting/leveling sprinkler heads on the back nine green surrounds in preparation for the renovation in the spring.

As always, we will continue to ensure the course is clean and ready for play each day when applicable. Stay warm and please have patience through this winter cold event.

Best,

Mike
