Coharie is proud to host the Coharie Junior Classic, a Tarheel Youth Golf Association (TYGA) event, on September 19-20. TYGA is a division of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and was formed in 1996 to offer CGA membership to those juniors in NC who are not members of a traditional golf or country club. Today, TYGA provides playing opportunities for its members, conducts educational seminars & events, acts as a junior golf informational clearinghouse, publishes monthly North Carolina junior rankings, and awards Junior Player of the Year and All-State awards to the top juniors in North Carolina. TYGA hosts various events for junior golfers who are NC residents and are 6-18 years of age. Events are open to both boys and girls. The field for the Coharie Junior is limited to 90 players. This year’s field will includes Jack DuBose, Weston Munnich, Walker Parrish, Mary Thomas Williams from Clinton and Chase Jackson from Autryville.

Because of the event, the course will be completely closed on Saturday. It will then reopen for members on Sunday starting at 1:30 PM. Everyone is encouraged to come out and watch some of North Carolina’s finest junior golfers compete.
